Henrik Van Ryzin of VanTiki Studio, Hawaii, sculpted this entirely handcraft ceramic Tiki Mug, the Tree Brain Idol.
Deep in the jungles of VanTiki island the natives discovered two trees sporting a curious throbbing orange brain. Curiouser still were the effects of the sap that slowly trickled from the base of the brains on anyone who drank it. Throughout the centuries, the brain’s sap was used by elders to see into the future and commune with the spirit world. The trees on which the brains grew were carved into idols, and travelers came from all over the globe to sip the mystical Brain Juice.
Tiki is a male figure in Polynesian myth. It is said that Tiki is the first man or the ancestor. The orange brain is removable. The brain can be used as a small cup while the mug is still a mug. The Tree Brain mug is 11 7/8 inches tall and weights over 7 pounds. The orange brain is 3″ tall. You need to be strong to use this mug. The mug is made out of glazed high-fire ceramics with porcelain details.
