In Greek, “Chrys-” means golden and “-anthemion” means flower. Chrysanthemum is a flower symbolizes cheerfulness, optimism, rest, truth, long life and joy. In Japan, chrysanthemum is a symbol of the sun, representing perfection. Even Confucius used chrysanthemum as an object of meditation. There is a practise to encourage a long and healthy life with chrysanthemum by placing a single petal of the flower at the bottom of a wine glass. This ring is handcrafted using an antique solid brass adjustable filigree ring and a lovely lucite creamy almond color chrysanthemum cabochon. The cab measures 18mm. I antiqued the brass and hand polished the high areas to create more depth. I also added a clear lacquer to preserve the beautiful antiqued color. I love how it turned out, beautiful!
