Peace is usually associated with victory hand gesture and pigeon, but do you know why?

The internationally recognised symbol for peace features a hollow circle and a vertical line across of the diagonal lines of upside-down “V”. It is initially designed for the British nuclear disarmament movement. These days V hand signal is commonly used around the world for peace.
Then why pigeon is the symbol of peace? The fact is pigeon is not the bird of peace, it is the white dove that represents peace. It has been thousands of years for white dove to be symbol of peace and hope. Doves’ lifestyle is the reason it has been chosen as a symbol of peace. Doves are incredibly loyal to each other and mate for life. They build their nest together in areas that human can watch and raise their young. They give human the thought that doves are dedicated, honorable and peaceful. The Bible also used dove as an animal representing love, loyalty, fidelity and honesty. After World War II, Picasso chose the Dove of Peace for the Peace Conference and this popularized protraction of dove as symbol of peace.
The peace t-shirt available at Threadless features a dove showing Victory hand signal to enhance the message of peace.
