The above 5 3/4 inches long ancient Indus Valley Iron Age Bull shaped rattle is dated back to the fourth Millenium BC (Mehrgarh periods IV – VI, approximately 3500-2800 BC). The genuine Indus ceramic is extremely rare with well-preserved pigment (not the normal faked ceramic on today’s market). The ceramic piece characterizes a large bull standing foursquare with thick upturned horn. There are also black brushstrokes decorating the ceramic. The Indus pottery was used as a rattle in ancient times, and it still made noise today when shook.
The rare piece was acquired in 1980’s and previously belonged to a British private collection. It is now available for bid on eBay and the closing date is on Feb 20, 201014:05:10 PST. There are 14 bids made so far at the price of US $227.50.
